When the president issued the lockdown most of us were sad and didn’t know how to go about it. But as time went by we started adopting to it and out of the lockdown we have learned, made acquaintances through social media and started building ourselves up with new courses, ideas and also good eating habits.

As human, when the lockdown was lifted I was very happy and went about making noise and jumping up and down saying I will get the liberty to do my one or two things in town and be able to stretch my legs and get some fresh air. It’s been long I had that kind of feeling and at least I will be free from bondage and be free from my granny and her questions and stories.

But come to think of it, when the numbers was not that much the lockdown wasn’t put in place and the government didn’t put measures in place to restrict movement and other directives which can help reduce the number of cases. The numbers as it stands now is close to 1050 infected people if I should get my calculations right. But the lockdown has been lifted even with these increasing numbers. We are the last to lockdown and the first to lift the lockdown. Most African countries have recorded cases but not like what we have recorded, ours is more than theirs yet they are still under lockdown and observing measures in place to avoid the spread of the virus. Even with the lockdown and avoidance of Social gathering people still go for weddings and funerals and even religious activities. I think a curfew would have been better instead of lifting the lockdown. I don’t dispute the fact that education is being done to help reduce the spread of the virus but we all know very well how stubborn most of us are and we hardly adhere to rules and regulations unless force is applied.

Now that the lockdown is lifted, how many of us will adhere to the precautions to help reduce the spread of the virus. The population which is being affected most are the youth between the ages of 25 years to 30 years and most youth within this age survive from hand to mouth. And even this same age group hardly adhere to instructions. Now we are on our own, Stay home if you have nothing important doing in town and when going to town adhere to the precautions by using face mask and practicing social distance, make use of alcohol content hand sanitizer and spend less time outside. This is a very critical moment in our lives so let’s take precautions. Death is inevitable but it’s good to die knowing you are not the one responsible for your own death. Let’s stay safe guys…
